I have counted out in my mind all the ways
that money in change can fall into palms -
given the difficulty of balancing coins
even on a flat surface, why do shopkeepers
insist on placing the note first
then a rutted turret of coins on top of this?
Each time comes a test of skill & patience & trust
between two players in the process who don't know each other.

The coins fall down. Dual apologies. And nobody learns.
